As someone who is emotionally aware, the card game not only helped me better understand my feelings, it also helped me perceive the way I feel in a different light. Beyond knowing what I am feeling, I am able to try to take on a different response rather than allow my responses to be a perpetuating factor to my negative thoughts.
Cindy Lee –
The card game is a 5/5 for me because it helps us to understand why we’re feeling a certain emotion during an activating event. It helps us to identify and know our belief system better while also shedding light on how we can improve it. The best part? You grow together with your friends.

One of the most unique games I have played. It really brings to light the unspoken topic of mental health which is ironically so prevalent in everyone. A really meaningful and well thought through game!!
Clarissa –
Let’s unpack this is the perfect card game for individuals to reflect upon their emotions through a casual and easygoing medium. It was a great way for my partner and I to talk about our feelings in a fun and simple way 🙂
Adora –
Through this fun yet reflective game, I got to find out much more about my close friends, that I otherwise might not probe about during our regular conversations. Highly recommended for you to get to know your loved ones better, or to discover more about someone new through intriguing prompts.

Let’s Unpack this is a bold and interesting concept that gets you hooked a minute into the game. It strips down all awkwardness and allows players to have an honest conversation, making it a safe space with no judgements. There is no game like this in the market and we strongly recommend this for folks who want to have honest conversations.

A good icebreaker game for any group that will be working together closely for a pro long period of time. Breaks down a lot of walls and helps to understand the other better quickly and efficiently.
Stefan –
Gives you the opportunity to get to know fellow peers not just on a surface level and really have engaging conversations as well as viewpoints of others opinions and thought processes of how they work and interact, overall a nice game to get to know fellow partners well.
Joey –
Really nice to sit with friends and understand each other on a different level. Would highly recommend for kids and adolescents to teach them about opening up about their feelings.

The “Let’s Unpack This” game is both fun and useful way for groups of friends to learn more about each other on a deeper level. Specifically, it provides a systematic way for individuals to unpack their feelings and emotions while giving them the space to reflect.

I absolutely enjoyed the game. It was designed in such a way that created such a nice flow that slowly allowed us to venture into the more reserved parts of our emotional psyche that we ourselves were unaware of. What I liked most was how there was a range of emotions that you could play this game from. It would create a different light in the essence of the game. Every time you play would be completely new. The process of the game was very jovial and centred mostly on happiness, albeit could get quite heavy with the sharing. All in all, it was a great experience and I would 100% recommend it.

The game was fun and interesting and helped me feel closer to my family. I thought the questions were thoughtful and reflective and I really enjoyed myself.

This game helped me realise not just my own issues and problems, but also helped me understand what my partner is going through as well. I find that this game is really good for people who have trouble opening up to others, and this really helps deeply connect relationship in families, friends and partners.

We will be ordering more to give as gifts. Kudos to Sherman and your team!

I thought this game was such a fun way to open up about our negative feelings. I think as a society, it’s hard to create an environment that truly encourages these kinds of discussions, but I think the prompts and guiding questions provided were helpful — not only in getting us to reflect and articulate the whys of these emotions but also exploring the hows to combat them when they arise.
I played with my brother, my sister and her bf (gotta be honest, I wasn’t expecting him to be very forthcoming with his level of participation but he ended up sharing quite a lot!) we also ended up recognising each others’ strengths in dealing with certain emotions and learning from each other too so that was nice!

Just had a chance to play Unpack last night and man, this is quite a work of art. It encourages deeper bonding in friend groups (especially useful as we grow older and possibly more distant from old friends), destigmatizes sharing of personal issues with others, and guides players on how to both listen actively and effectively phrase and share their troubles with others. Artwork was also gorgeous, product design was well thought out (instruction cards were particularly useful in guiding players on a step-by-step basis), and the overall product was a joy to hold in the hand.
Great job team! Hope this gets the traction it deserves

I conducted a session during one of my men’s groupwork & feedback has it that they’d better identify themselves with those chosen cards thus expressing how they feel inside a lot easier. They also appreciated that using positive beliefs to overcome negative ones was helpful. “Let’s Unpack” is a good break away from our usual mini lecture segment on managing emotions which could be dull & dry, at times. Glad to have this pack to add on to my toolbox to dish out not only during groupwork but also with friends & colleagues. Thank you, Happiness Initiative!

Tested Let’s Unpack This with a friend who was game to try it out. She liked it so much, we played a second round! Despite being long time friends, it gave us a chance to label our own emotions and get curious about the other’s inner world. It felt like we had a conversation about how to have a conversation! Would love to see the game expanded or adapted for use at the workplace.

I think a lot of times, one may self-reflect but may end up feeling stuck or avoiding the situation altogether. The game is not only for each player to unpack negative stuff and reframe it to something healthier and more positive for oneself, it enables the other players to give each player different perspectives and coping mechanisms as well.
It’s evident the team put in a lot of effort in this – GREAT JOB!

Played this new card game with the team as we welcomed new interns and bid farewell to an old intern.
This game requires a certain level of emotional safety and trust to participate actively and meaningfully. The whole game can be quite long if you play in a large group but it’s also enlightening because you get to hear the perspectives of other people.
This card game and its positive/negative emotions and beliefs cards can be a good tool for me to explore and play with the rest of the Foreword cafe team as a training tool for emotional awareness. Idea 🙂

My friends and I had a meaningful time playing “Let’s Unpack This Card Game”. The design of the game is well-thought-out and it allowed us to share more about ourselves as well as some of the difficulties we faced in our lives. I also feel that this game allows us to better appreciate each other’s unique experiences, perspectives and feelings in life.I strongly recommend this card game to anyone who is interested in strengthening the bonds by getting to know their friends or loved ones better through this simple yet brilliant card game.

I absolutely LOVE this game. I’ve played it twice with the same group of people, and each time, the discoveries and insights we get about our situation are sooo invaluable. The cards do an incredible job of providing a framework and flow of how to talk about complex emotions and unpack situations and feelings that one may not understand. Note that the game might run really long depending on the depth of sharings. In the times i’ve played, it has taken about 2 hours or so!
I’ve also used the emotions and belief cards in other workshops as well as a tool, so people have images or emotions to choose from to describe how they feel about certain situations, so this is another added benefit of getting the cards too.
The illustrations on the cards are so cute too, it’s great to see my emotions or beliefs captured in those illustrations because it helps me better identify which emotions or beliefs I have in a particular situation.
HIGHLYYYYYY recommend this card game for anyone who wants to be able to unpack their emotions and beliefs with a community or group of friends they feel safe with! Great job Happiness Initiative 😀 looking forward to other tools, games and resources you all will create!

Got the chance to play the game with a group of like minded youths recently! The game was very interesting and was a great icebreaker as it abled us to bond and share deeper insights about one another. It was fun and we got to unpack our emotions in a simple and light hearted manner.?

the drawings are really cute! I think this card game is good for groups of friends who are comfortable with baring our souls to each other but not sure how to do it. The cards guide us and kind of prepares our friends on what they are going to hear so the sharing is not too sudden. I played this with my poly friends and it helped me understand how each of them are doing in the midst of our final year project 🙂

I thought this was a game, but it’s so much more than that – it has helped me have deeper conversations with friends and to learn more about them. I’m not a fan of getting in touch with my emotions (as are my friends), and this has helped us be more in touch with ourselves, and to share that with the people we care about. Highly recommended!
